iACT Joins UN Football for the Goals

LOS ANGELES, August 21, 2023 - iACT has joined the United Nations initiative, Football for the Goals, as a part of our continued stance as an advocate for gender equality, peace and justice, and quality education for all.

The aim of the UN initiative is to harness the power of the global football community to reach toward its goals of human rights, gender equality, sustainability, and climate action by 2030.

iACT as an organization has long been committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that through our soccer and early childhood education programming we continue to create space and opportunity for girls and women to grow and thrive.

“We are thrilled to become a member of Football for the Goals, and join in with using the universal voice of football toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Along with our community partners who provide children affected by conflict the opportunity to experience the joy of soccer, we aim to ensure that refugees are included and recognized in the global work of reaching the SDGs,” says iACT Global Programs Manager Felicia Lee.

iACT will continue to be an advocate for change through both our soccer and early childhood education programming. Learn more about our programs and how they support the SDGs–including gender equality–on our programs page.

What are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?

In 2015, the UN member states adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as a “shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.” The goals include no poverty, no hunger, education for all, and climate action all with aspiration of achievement by 2030.
